WINTER BEAUTY

Winter is the season when the invisible becomes visible. The structure of trees are revealed. Underfoot we feel soil being made.  Our eyes search for blossoms but find blooms of lichen and moss, and the fruit of fungi.  Ferns spore secretly in the woods.  The beach is empty, the ocean is intimate and unfriendly.  If we're lucky, the grey rocks will turn silver in the rain.  The water will satiate.  The reservoirs will fill.  We will get what we've been waiting for.
